It is such an honor to be a part of this organization and to work for such great
young athletes, and also to report back to all of our community supporters, that through our fund raising efforts and our tremendous community spirit and support we have now provided more then $65,000 in financial support to some of the finest young athletes you could ever want to meet!
Hopefully, most of our local corridor businesses and families have heard of,
supported, and maybe even participated in, our annual CHANCE FOR KIDS Charity golf tournament. It is our premiere fund raising event, and it is supported by businesses and individuals throughout the sea to sky corridor. We our very fortunate to have 2 committed corporate sponsors, the Pemberton Valley Supermarket, and the Pemberton Bank of Nova Scotia who have helped us tremendously in our effort to raise money for the Society. In 2007, we had our best Golf Tournament results to date, exceeding what we had set for ourselves as a Stretch target. Last year we raised over $40,000 during that single event and with the continued support of business and individuals from within our community, we certainly hope we can achieve that target again this year.
After we do our fundraising for the year, we then advertise to let the public know that we are accepting applications for funding young athletes for the following year. The Evaluation Committee then has the challenge of reviewing the applications and having to unfortunately make the difficult decisions as to who will receive funding for the upcoming year and how much funding they will receive.
This year we are proud to announce our team of 13 CHANCE FOR KIDS athletes.
These young talented individuals have amazing credentials and deserve the
support and recognition of their community !
